What I Did Today

I watched a presentation about how to recognize and avoid scammers on job boards. This was helpful because I happen to have a friend who was scammed recently and I was worried for her. She found it on Indeed and showed it to me and everything looked legit but wasn’t. I’ve been looking for work on job boards for the past 2 years and have always been nervous about my information going off into the ether world so this was very helpful.

In the second hour I focused on my LinkedIn profile and with Carrie’s help I’m feeling much better about how it’s going and I look forward to having a professional LinkedIn profile within the next week or two.

In the last hour I practiced interview questions and this is a great exercise and I feel like I am improving with each passing week. My confidence is growing.

What I did today

– Tech articles
— Presented on new semi-electric semi trucks (heh). Interesting stuff about how systems change and when different incentives cause industries to move forwards.
— Really interesting conversation about autonomous vehicles.
— One day we will all manage to leave the AI news mines for a single Thursday lmao.
– More Project Inception
— I feel really comfortable creating VM’s now? And even kind of understand what the options mean?
– Excited to start networking. Also oh god networking.
– Did employment services intake and was struck by how much my work tolerance has increased in the last several years and also the last year. I’m really not sure what I’m capable of now and that’s exciting.
– Also the mock interviews yesterday were awesome. The second interviewer was a hiring manager and he gave me some really good and specific advice and coaching about what I was saying and how a hiring manager would hear it. I really really liked getting interviewed by him and I hope I get more mock interview experiences like that.
