Today I started with some job postings, and then moved on to the ERG project. Unfortunately I didn’t get a lot of work done on it, I decided to apply for one of the jobs I posted and the application process turned out to be MUCH more involved then I anticipated. If nothing else, today was a good lesson on time management and cutting your losses when something is taking too long. I’ll do better tomorrow, I’m sure of it!
What I Did Today
Today, I practiced being an employee and customer at the POW store. During the scenario, we had a real-life situation where an item was out of stock and the customer couldn’t purchase water. Later, I had my check-in meeting with Carrie and Devin. I also worked on some SkillSoft today.
What I did today
Today I did a check in with Devin and Carrie, I also finished the second part of my drive imaging lab.
What I did today
Today I started on the advanced lab and updated my ticket. I had a check-in with Carrie and Devin, which went well. I am starting to see what I need to work on most, and right now I need to work on asking for help more when I get stumped. I was able to run clonezilla today because I asked for help from my peers and the instructor.
What I did today
Today, I managed to get some more work done for the pre-lab portion as finishing touches after having completed the rest of Lab 1. Then, I got started on the Advanced Lab proper, and got started on the pre-lab segments of that as well.
I wasn’t very productive today. I got very sleepy a quarter into the session, and was barely able to maintain focus.
After a while, I was pulled into the monthly check-in, and was asked how my experience with the program was going so far. I relayed that I was struggling with the SkillShare homework, and that my dental issues were eating some time. Aside from those, I think I have been doing well.
What I Did Today
I worked posting jobs on the C.T.P. job board for the wonderful clients in support of finding a job they will love. I posted a couple in Napa County today and other locations.
What I Did Today
Today we mostly worked on using Clonezilla to make images of our virtual machine hard drives. its a very similar process to Acronis True Image. I also did my third monthly checkin with Devin and Carrie, it was very rewarding to hear how well I have done in the program.

Components:
- Clonezilla: Disk cloning software for creating backups or migrating data.
- VirtualBox: Virtualization software that allows you to run virtual machines on your laptop.
- Tunnel: A secure connection between your laptop and the server. This is often achieved using SSH tunneling.
- Server: A remote machine that will host the virtual machine with Clonezilla.
Advice:
- Setting up the Server:
- Ensure your server is configured to allow SSH connections.
- You might need to install VirtualBox on the server if it’s not already available.
- Creating an SSH Tunnel:
- There are two ways to achieve this:
- Using command line: Use the
ssh
command with the-L
flag to create a local port forwarding tunnel. You’ll find tutorials online by searching “https://www.ssh.com/academy/ssh/tunneling-example“. - Using GUI tools: Some SSH clients have built-in GUI functionalities for creating tunnels.
- Using command line: Use the
- There are two ways to achieve this:
- Clonezilla in VirtualBox:
- Download the Clonezilla ISO file from the official website https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php.
- Create a new virtual machine in VirtualBox on your laptop.
- During virtual machine creation, point the CD/DVD drive to the downloaded Clonezilla ISO file.
- Configure the virtual machine’s network settings to use the bridged adapter mode if it will be directly connected to the server’s network. Otherwise, use the network adapter set to the private network created by the SSH tunnel.
- Using Clonezilla:
- Start the virtual machine with Clonezilla.
- Clonezilla will boot up in a live environment, allowing you to clone disks.
- The specific steps for cloning disks will depend on your desired outcome (cloning to the server, from the server, etc.). Refer to the Clonezilla documentation https://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-live-doc.php for detailed instructions.
Additional Considerations:
- Security: Ensure proper SSH key-based authentication is set up for the SSH tunnel to avoid password exposure.
- Network Connectivity: Make sure your laptop and server have a stable network connection throughout the process.
- Resource Requirements: Running a virtual machine with Clonezilla will require sufficient RAM and processing power on the server.
Alternatives:
- If the goal is to backup data to the server, consider using file-level backup tools like rsync instead of disk cloning with Clonezilla.
- Some cloud storage providers offer built-in backup functionalities that might be simpler to set up.
What I did today
Today I did more power of wellness pretend calls with my classmates, we did a POS training/square online store script. I also did more skill-soft since we finished early.
